Medical massage in Yuma

An evaluation, specific goals and a treatment plan, with no prescription or referral required.

Evaluation first, then goals with your name on them

Medical massage usually addresses some kind of dysfunction, so the first job is finding out what yours is. Your therapist evaluates you before treatment begins. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit so the intake form is done and nobody is rushing you into the room at 777 W 27th Street.

Once you have been evaluated and treatment begins, we set up specific goals with you. There are four we work toward: reduce the severity of pain, reduce the frequency of pain, increase range of motion, and normalize muscle tissue, which means getting rid of the “knots.” Your therapist tells you which of those fit what you came in with.

A plan that starts close together and spreads out

After the evaluation comes a treatment plan. The rhythm we describe is twice a week to start, then once a week, then once every other week, for about 10 to 12 treatments. After that comes maintenance, unless your therapist suggests otherwise. The visits begin close together and space out, which is the shape of the whole plan.

Your therapist can change the rhythm. If your body asks for something different, that is a conversation to have in the room, not a rule on the wall. Patricia Stern’s review describes the same arc from the client side: weekly at first, then every two weeks, and now maintenance with Valerie. Ask what number of visits fits your own situation.

No referral needed, and physicians are welcome

Many of our patients are referred by their physician, however a prescription for massage or referral is NOT required. You can call (928) 276-4605 and book without a note from anyone. If your doctor or physical therapist has given you a diagnosis or instructions, bring them to the evaluation, because they help your therapist plan.

Wellness packages come in 50 or 80 minute sessions. Valid for up to six months, a package fits a plan that runs over many visits. Remaining massages are forfeited and there are no refunds after six months, so ask the front desk how many sessions suit your plan before you buy. Call the front desk for package prices.
